Restaurant's Latest Information
A cafe that sells fruit cakes with superior ingredients and taste. Their lunch menu is very popular also
The cakes in the cafe are mostly fruit cakes, so the menu varies depending on the season. I visited them in August, so there was a lineup that featured seasonal peaches. Even a single piece of cake is available to be taken away.
The cafe is also particular about their drinks. Their line up of teas, including black tea, herbal tea, and Japanese tea is substantial.
The lunch menu features a pasta lunch, where you can choose from three types of pasta, a salad plate that features fresh vegetables, and a fruit sandwich lunch, where plenty of fruit and cream are sandwiched between two pieces of delicious bread.
Editor's Recommendations
Café comme ca do not compromise in the making of their fruit cakes. Rediscover the enjoyment of eating fresh fruit
If you look at the whole cake before it is cut, you can't help but be impressed by the rich colors and freshness of the seasonal fruits. In particular, I was overwhelmed by the shape of the mango in the Ripe Red Mango Cake, which was cut to resemble a rose, so much so that I was reluctant to tamper with it.
After you feast with your eyes, you want to feast with your tongue and nose and the fruit cake in Café comme ca contains a mild cream which does not spoil the aroma, sweetness, flavor and texture of the fruit. Rather it gently supports the original flavor of the fruit. This is a cake that will help you rediscover the enjoyment of eating fresh fruit.
A stylish loft-like interior. The lighting in the café highlights the cakes and the tablecloths
The interior of the store is dimly lit, and spot lighting is applied to create a stylish atmosphere. When you enter the store, you will see a showcase containing fruit cake that extends straight along the left wall. The cake in the showcase is clearly lighted and looks great. The walls have a concrete texture which creates a stylish loft-like feel. A lot of lighting equipment is installed on the ceiling, and it feels like a studio. The only seats available are table seats, and each table has a differently-colored table cloth which stands out vividly in the monochrome store.
A clerk wearing a cooks hat answered my questions about cake politely, and he left a good impression.
There are three types of lunch on the menu: pasta, salad plate, and fruit sandwich. They all come with a salad and a drink
The Pasta Lunch is the most popular. You can choose from three types of pasta and for an additional 250 yen (tax included), you get a fruit salad.
The Special Salad Plate is a fresh seasonal salad with bread, soup and a drink. It's a popular menu item for health-conscious diners.
The Fruit Sandwich Lunch is a sandwich containing fruit such as apple, kiwi fruit, banana, orange, with mascarpone cream. The cream is not so sweet that it overpowers the fruit. It comes wrapped in paper to make it easy to eat without getting your hands dirty.
The name of the cake, Frui, is based on the French word for fruit, and this cake lives up to the name with its exhaustive use of grapefruit, star ruby (red-flesh grapefruit), kyoho grapes, Delaware grapes, kiwifruit, strawberries, oranges and apples.
Although a single slice is beautiful enough, the whole cake is so stunning with its skillfully cut fruits arranged in a geometrical spiral that it's easy to sigh at it. It looks like a jewel lit up in the showcase.
You can enjoy the changes in sweetness, aroma and texture of the seasonal fruits each time you take a mouthful. The richness of the base cream with its reduced sweetness and the aroma of the almond tart base subtly support the taste of the fruit.
